What is AdBlue®?
- AdBlue® is a clear, non-toxic fluid used in diesel vehicles with SCR technology
- Converts harmful emissions into harmless nitrogen and water vapour by dosing the gases prior to passing through the SCR catalytic converter.
- Made from a high-purity urea solution and deionised water
- Required for most Euro 5 and Euro 6 diesel vehicles.
- Only VDA approved ISO 22241 compliant AdBlue® should be used
AdBlue® Characteristics
- SG (specific gravity) is 1.09 typical
- Recommended shelf life is 12 months
- Freezing point – 11 °C
- Hydrolysis starts at 30 °C
- Crystallisation upon drying can cause corrosion and spillages should be cleaned using water
- Corrosive to iron, copper, bronze and some aluminium alloys
- Spill Free systems are available and should ALWAYS be used to minimise risk
